I recently took all my art off the two Meta platforms, partly due to the Ai debate, partly the algorithm just not working for me and partly to try and save some time from those platforms. Don't know how I feel about it yet but so far so good 😊
I think that mindless scrolling became an entrenched habit for me while I recovered from knee replacement surgery two years ago, I need to consciously reduce the time I spend on that.
Hi Jo, I think I know what you mean by 'mindless scrolling'. I think that it comes from a habit of idleness from my viewpoint. I do believe that most of what we do is from a habit or habits. Now the question is, how can we replace 'mindless scrolling' to mindful scrolling or doing something that is constructive either for ourselves or better yet, constructive to help someone else. Have a 'mindful' weekend. 😉✌️
Here are some tactics. Give ourselves time limits. Replace with reading actual books. Remove apps from our devices. Knit. Take a walk. Tidy up. The posdibiliries are endless.
It’s interesting that creativity is often the first thing to go when life gets busy and I guess mindless scrolling is easier to do in those rare quiet moments.
So true, Helen. I am trying to reduce the time I spend scrolling, or at least focus it on viewing and reading things that are meaningful. I still have many online connections that merely pass around jokes, memes and videos in lieu of typing a personal email or text to stay connected.
Thank you Fiona. It takes a while to get into a routine, and needs shift with the seasons. And the fatigue hits earlier in the afternoon depending on the morning's activity level. I am thinking of doing some big batch cooking to save time. And I am slowly getting rid of clutter which will save time with the housework.
Thanks Brian, I will take a look at it. I am currently reading Creative Authenticity by Ian Roberts, while I am struggling with finding my unique style as a painter.

I need to do this too. But I wonder if deleting things on meta really puts them out of their reach.
Absolutely wonderful!!

Thank you Jo! Yes, the possibilities are endless . . . We must continually seek the presence and purpose of the LORD in all things.

Thank you Hannah! How do we balance our creative time in our very busy days. That seems to be the riddle that keeps knocking me off balance.
